Select Series - TMD Model

Overview

The TMD answers a problem that many dreadnought players will recognise. The dreadnought is one of the great acoustic voices, spacious and powerful, with a low end few other body shapes can match. For many players, though, the body is simply too large to live with comfortably over long sessions.

We designed the TMD to change that. It takes the more comfortable dimensions of an OM-sized body and deepens it, preserving the volume of the soundbox while reducing the footprint. The waist stays relaxed, keeping the area around the bridge open and responsive. The result is a guitar that speaks with the spaciousness and low-end weight of a dreadnought, but with the quicker attack and clearer articulation you get from a smaller, more focused instrument. It strums with authority, flat-picks with punch, and responds to fingerstyle with a detail that larger guitars rarely achieve.

This Select Series run brings that voice to a specification we're particularly proud of. The soundboard is Swiss Moon Spruce, selected for its exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio and clarity of response. The back and sides are Antique Mahogany, a timber that brings warmth, sustain and a musicality that works across every style of playing. Together they make a guitar that is immediate and open-sounding, with a midrange richness that rewards both strumming and fingerstyle.

Finished in satin for smooth playability and a look that lets the timber speak for itself. A K&K Pure Mini pickup can be added on request.

Please note: As with all Turnstones, each guitar is made by hand using natural materials such as solid timber and cattle bone. This means the instrument you receive may show some variations in grain or colour compared to these photos, unique hallmarks of craftsmanship and part of what makes every Turnstone one of a kind.
