Artisan Collection - TMD Model

This is the first TMD we have ever built. It is a new model from Turnstone and an Artisan Collection instrument, built using the finest materials and to the highest standards of craftsmanship we offer.

The TMD answers a problem that many dreadnought players will recognise. The dreadnought is one of the great acoustic voices, spacious and powerful, with a low end few other body shapes can match. For many players though, the body is simply too large to live with comfortably over long sessions. We designed the TMD to deliver that dreadnought character in a guitar you can play for hours without fatigue.

The design takes the more comfortable dimensions of an OM sized body and deepens it, preserving the volume of the soundbox while reducing the footprint. The waist stays relaxed, which keeps the area around the bridge open and alive. The result is a guitar that speaks with the spaciousness and low end weight of a dreadnought, but with the quicker attack and clearer articulation you get from a smaller, more focused instrument. It strums with authority, flat picks with punch, and responds to fingerstyle with a detail that larger guitars rarely achieve.

This first TMD is a singular instrument. The soundboard is Swiss Moon Spruce, harvested according to traditional lunar forestry methods and selected for its exceptional stiffness to weight ratio and clarity of response. The back and sides are Cocobolo, a dense and oily rosewood with vivid figuring that gives the guitar a rich, sustaining bass and a shimmering top end. The binding and headstock front plate are Snakewood, one of the rarest and most striking timbers in lutherie, its dark flecked grain accenting the guitar with quiet extravagance.

The fretboard inlays are making their debut on this guitar. Each marker is the negative space of the Turnstone logo in white mother of pearl, with the full logo appearing at the 12th fret in black and white mother of pearl. A detail that rewards a closer look.

Supplied in a hard case with a Certificate of Authenticity, a hygrometer, cleaning cloth, fretboard conditioner and a two way humidity control system. Everything you need to care for this guitar for a lifetime.
